The ANCWL has noted the enlistment of six new members of Parliament joining the ANC Parliamentary Caucus to fill existing vacancies.
The ANCWL has no doubt on the capacity of the newly appointed MPs in strengthening parliament's oversight role over the executive and to further enhance the of quality service delivery to the people of South Africa. With no fear of contradictions the ANCWL is of the view that in all material times there must be adherence to the 50/50% policy position. Deployment of women to positions of power is not an act of charity but an acknowledgement that women are capable to lead and are equal citizens in our country.
The ANCWL appeals to the newly deployed ANC MP's to work in unison with their colleagues in championing the ANC policies in parliament and to ensure that laws passed in parliament are aligned to ANC policies. It is only the ANC that has progressive policies to address inequality, unemployment and poverty which adversely affects majority of black women and the youth in our country.
The ANCWL supporters and members must monitor and ensure that all ANC MPs do their constituency work without fail. Any lacklustre performance must be reported to the appropriate ANC structures . In building a strong united ANC, all ANC deployees from Council to National Legislature must be active in the ANC branches. Deployment should not result in creation of social distance between the ANC leaders, ANC members and society at large.
