24 July 2017
The African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL) in the Eastern Cape has noted with disappointment the unfactual sensationalised report published in the Daily Dispatch newspaper of 24-07-2017.
The articles seeks to portray members of ANCWL Eastern Cape- Alfred Ndzo Region as hooligans and ill-disciplined to the core who disrupted the Special Regional General Council which was convened at Mt Ayliff Hall on the 23rd July 2017. The ANCWL Eastern Cape has interacted with the journalist who wrote the story " Mr Malibongwe Dayimani" and he admitted that he was misled. He indicated that he will retract the story and publish a factual story. We have accepted the apology from the journalist. He was indeed misled by his sources.
It is worth indicating that as ANCWL Eastern Cape we will not be discouraged by the wedge drivers who are giving false reports to media. We will continue building strong structures that will contribute towards making the ANC an even more effective instrument of liberation in the hands of the people. The unity and integrity of the ANC and its leagues remains sacrosanct. We will fearlessly and unapologetically confront those with tendencies of disruptions and factionalism.
Furthermore, the ANCWL in the Eastern Cape will not be distracted from persuading ANC members in the Province to support the ANCWL policy proposals that has to be adopted in the next national Conference- December 2017. The ANCWL calls for expropriation of land without compensation, establishment of State Bank, legislation of 50/50 % gender parity in all sectors at all levels, free sanitary pads for all girl children of the poor and working class, free and compulsory education for the children of the poor and working class until undergraduate level to mention few.
We call all ANCWL supporters and members in the Eastern Cape to join us in building strong structures that will spearhead the objectives, policies and programmes of the ANCWL and the ANC in the Province.
