The African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL) is calling all its members to fully participate in the coming Branch General Meetings (BGM's) of the African National Congress (ANC).
Primarily the coming ANC BGM's are platforms to discuss policy recommendations emanating from the National Policy Conference (NPC) and adopt a branch resolution on those policies to be taken further to Regional General Councils (RGC's),Provincial General Councils (PGC's) and eventually to the 54th National policy conference of the ANC for final adoption. The ANCWL firmly believes that the land ownership and skewed economic ownership patterns in the country must be addressed speedily to achieve equality, eradicate poverty and create jobs. The white monopoly capital has to be dismantled through fundamental changes in the structure, systems, institutions and patterns of ownership, management and control of the economy in favour of all South Africans, especially the poor, the majority of whom are African and female.
Amongst others, the ANCWL also calls for:
In nominating candidates to lead the ANC beyond the 54th National Conference, the ANCWL calls its members to persuade the ANC branch members across the country to support the call for having Cde Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as President of the ANC. She is a tried and tested cadre who led in various structures of our movement, in various portfolios as cabinet member and in the high echelons of African Union. She is an experienced committed politician and administrator whose interest is on the poor and the working class in society.
The ANCWL demands maximum organisational discipline from its members during this process. The process should not in anyway divide the organisation but must remain a democratic act of persuading each other and strengthening the internal democratic principles of the organisation. The ANCWL nor any of its preferred candidates to be in the incoming National Executive Committee of the ANC to be led by Cde Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will not be associated with any form of ill-discipline during and after this process.
As an integral part of the ANC, the ANCWL will continue working towards making the ANC an even more effective instrument of liberation in the hands of the people, and that will defend the unity and integrity of the Organisation and its principles, and combat any tendency towards disruption and factionalism.
Radical economic transformation now or never!!!
