ANCWL Statement on Mr Tumisho Masha

ANCWL Statement on Mr Tumisho Masha

30 December 2017

The African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL) is disturbed by recent reports alleging that Mr Tumisho Masha a well-known TV personality has physically assaulted Ms Zozibini Mtongana - Masha and kidnapped their 2year old baby.

Whilst the country is generally in the happy mood of festive season the likes of Mr Masha are allegedly continuing with the barbaric behaviour of abusing women and children. The ANCWL respects the principles of innocent until Mr Masha is proven guilty by the Courts of law, but however we support Ms Mtongana - Masha and the 2year old baby and calls for the law to take it's course.

The ANCWL calls on the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) to intensify it's programs to promote respect for gender equality and the protection, development and the attainment of gender equality. The CGE has a Constitutional mandate to ensure that South Africa becomes a society free from all forms of gender oppression and inequality therefore it has to be in the forefront to fight all forms of gender based violence.

The ANCWL also calls for its supporters, members and society in general to unreservedly support the victims of gender based violence.
